Welcome Message from the Korean Society of Hypertension,

Dear colleagues and scholars from abroad,

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the founding of the Korean Society of Hypertension. Thanks to the dedicated efforts and contributions of our esteemed predecessors and passionate members, as well as your continuous support, our society has achieved remarkable growth, gaining recognition both domestically and internationally. Moreover, the Korean Society of Hypertension has consistently worked to enhance its academic capabilities and to emphasize the social importance of blood pressure management. This is reflected in the publication of epidemiological data on hypertension, such as fact sheets and clinical guidelines, and the development of our journal, Clinical Hypertension, into a renowned international academic journal. We have also continued our collaboration with health-related institutions, striving to contribute to public health through better hypertension management.

The 61st Fall Conference of the Korean Society of Hypertension is being organized to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the society's founding, under the theme "30 Years Together, 100 Years Partner, the Korean Society of Hypertension." The conference will be held as an international academic event, Hypertension Seoul 2024. Recently, a new paradigm shift has been occurring in the diagnosis and treatment of hypertension. At this conference, we will share and discuss the latest research and trends on various academic topics, including the development of wearable blood pressure monitoring devices, the creation and evaluation of various blood pressure management assessment tools, the clinical study results of new antihypertensive drugs, and the application of artificial intelligence and digital healthcare in hypertension management and treatment. In addition, joint symposiums with the Korean Society of Nephrology and the Korean Society for the Study of Obesity will be held to discuss hypertension management strategies for major comorbidities such as chronic kidney disease and obesity. We have also prepared sessions to discuss the management and treatment of hypertension in specific populations, including adolescents and young adults, the elderly, and women, who have seen an increase in prevalence recently. Policy discussions for public hypertension management and discussions on the future direction of our journal will also be included in the program.

The Plenary Lecture at 2024 Hypertension Seoul will be delivered by Bryan Williams, President of the International Society of Hypertension (ISH), UK, on "A New Dawn for Aldosterone in Hypertension". Special lectures will also be given by Youngsuk Oh from NIH, USA on "Research Activities Supported by Vascular Biology and Hypertension Branch, NHLBI, NIH" and Gianfranco Parati from Italy on "Nocturnal Blood Pressure Monitoring: Methodological and Clinical Aspects". In addition, more than ten renowned international speakers will give lectures and participate in panel discussions on the latest research findings in hypertension.

Our society offers various educational programs, including refresher courses for general practitioners and residents, and a Winter School to train hypertension specialists. We also provide online programs like the Hypertension Enrichment Program as a platform for in-depth discussions on hypertension, thereby expanding educational and academic opportunities for young researchers and solidifying the future of our society. Even in these challenging times for the medical community, the pursuit of knowledge and research on the latest academic insights must continue for the benefit of patients. Therefore, our society has prepared a robust academic program that will be of great help in clinical practice. We hope that this Fall Conference will benefit your clinical activities and academic research achievements, and we kindly ask for your active participation and support to make this a true forum for expanding knowledge and enhancing the Korean Society of Hypertension’s capabilities. We also hope that young researchers who will lead the future of hypertension studies will soon be able to study and discuss together with us in a bright and collaborative environment.

Dear members, we earnestly request your unwavering affection and active participation in this Fall Conference. Please join us to gain the latest insights in hypertension and to support our society as it celebrates its 30th anniversary and continues to grow.

Best wishes to all of you.
